Raw, Gluten and Sugar Free, Vegan Pecan Pie

Yes, it is sugar, oil, gluten, lactose, and everything-else free…so what is it? Well..nuts, nuts and more…NUTS! As great as it sounds, be cautious about the calorie content, as it is mostly nuts and dates, so still be modest!


For the crust

– 150g oats

– 4 tablespoons of Walden Farms maple syrup

– 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

– 12 medjool dates

– 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

For the middle

– 1 cup of pecans

– 1/4 of a cup of water

– 2 tbsp PB Fit

– 12 medjool dates

– 4 tablespoons Walden Farms maple syrup

For the topping:

– 1 cup of pecans

– 2 tablespoons of Walden Farms maple syrup

– 1 teaspoon of cinnamon


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celcius. While the oven is heating, in a food processor, blend all ingredients for the crust until a sticky batter is formed.
  2. In a pre-greased pie tin (I use Fry Light 1 calorie coconut oil spray), spread the crust evenly and baked for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. While the crust is baking, blend the ingredients for the middle in a food processor until smooth. Once blended, leave in the refrigerator to chill.
  3. Remove the pie crust and let cool for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Mix ingredients for the topping in a large bowl then spread evenly onto a baking tray and bake for 5 minutes, or until pecans brown.
  5. Spread centre mixture evenly onto crust, then finish with the toppings.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes
  7. Serve and enjoy!

  1. Gluten and sugar free? This is what I need haha. I’ve been looking for various alternative snacks recently, just to incorporate better ingredients into my diet and THIS is right up my alley. I just wish nuts and dates were cheaper, they’re just not always great when I’m on a budget. But you know, you’ve got to pick your battles and buying a bag of popcorn at the cinema also sets me back quite a lot. I’m loving the content on your blog by the way. The mix between health and fitness is great!

      1. Definitely will! I think I’m going to try to find a couple more recipes that’ll require dates and pecans so I can buy in bulk and save some money.
